Has anyone noticed any issues after an auto install of SP3 for Windows XP?

I thought somoene on here said a loooooooooong time ago it was about to be auto installed, but it just now was auto installed today for me. It was a long process and now my computer seems very slow and less responsive. (for example when I double click something, it does not immediately change the arrow icon into an hourglass icon). I've restarted a couple times and it's still being slow at the moment.

Trying to be sure if it is related to that or if it's somethign else. I've noticed my computer being slow lately anyway, just not "this" slow. And I am not even remotely close to using up my disk space.

I'm running SP3 without problems here. You could try a few programs to speed your system up!

CCleaner.com

and you could try defragging your system by doing this

Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter

Yeah it hasn't been long since I defragged though and it didn't seem very fragmented. It seems to be working better today, so maybe it was some weird fluke issue.

By the way, I assume ccleaner won't delete files that ahven't been used in a long time, but rather temp files? I am just making sure it isn't going to delete something I don't want deleted. The only thing I notice on glance is that I ened to protect cookies I want protected.

IIRC, both Vista SP1 and XP SP3 cleared the caches (prefetch) that the OSs use.
It'll take a couple of days to rebuild it fully, because its watching what data you use the most, what programs you use most and at what times, etc.

Does anyone happen to know if a router can slow down internet connection? Its wired, not wireless, and at the moment I only have the one computer even used with it still so nothing new is being currently used, but my internet sure has been slower lately and I am trying to rule out the router. It's kind of hard to tell really by trial and error becuase my internet connection already wasn't so stable to begin with. Obviously I need to just try it in the middle of the connection messing up, but I figured someone may know if there would be any slowdown "normally". tongue.gif

That ccleaner deleted all of ym cookies even though I took the time to move them to the protect list... Now I had to goo log into a lot of sites again because of it.

The program has a tick box witch will not delete cookies.

I know. I originally had it not ticked. But after I did the protecting I ticked it to delete the others and it deleted them all instead.

SP3 went slow for me the first time I booted after installing, but it's been fine since.

If CCleaner didn't work for you, and your HDD isn't full, it might be a hardware issue, or you just have something running that's eating up your CPU.

ccleaner helped some other than it deleting those cookies I selected to save.

My hard drive probably has a lot on it compared to the average person, but it's not even remotely close to full. I just checked and I have 57% free space.
